Make sure to take advantage of the $30 Early Registration Fee. Children under 2 will enjoy free registration. Children 3-13 will only pay a $10 registration fee; this fee will be paid on-site at the registration table insh'Allah. There will no longer be an option to pay for hotel and registration together. Salaamualaikum wa Rahmat'Allahi wa Brakatu WestZone USA. Ipray that your breaks have been restful, safe, and full of creativity. It's time to get back to our busy schedules and important MSA work. I hope you are all back for a bigger and better year insh'Allah for 2009. This year is marked by change...change for the better we all hope. A WestZone Conference that's inspirational and accessible is my main goal for the semester. This year, the MSA of the University of Colorado Boulder did an impressive job proposing a zonal conference in their neighborhood. Looks like the MSA National WestZone Conference will insh'Allah be held there!
I would love to hear from you if you're still interested and would like an application. If you are interested in potentially hosting a PATH Training Session in your state, please be sure to contact me for further details and check out www.msacompass.org. For those of you interested in holding Project Downtown's or Fast-a-Thon's in your area, please make sure to email me or the chair of the community service task force at cstf@msanational.org. I want to make this semester the most productive of our Spring Semesters bi ithn illah, but I need your help! Your time and all your efforts are very much appreciated :) Did I mention Happy New Year?!

Finals time is upon us, remember your duas and prayers are an important tool to get through these difficult times. If I'm slow to respond to emails this month, forgive me but law school finals mode is in full swing. I also would like to apologize for being about a month behind in sending out our zonal committee applications. But, alhamdulilah, December will actually be a great time to send out zonal committee applications to all those interested because there will be a project to diligently work on: The WestZone Conference for Spring of 2009 insh'Allah. 10/20/08: MSA West Delegates Meeting & MSA Natl PATH Training a SUCCESS
Alhamdulilah, the joint MSA West and MSA Natl Training for MSAer's across Southern California was a wonderful success. We would like to give special thanks to the entire MSA West Board as well as the UCLA MSA Vice President for their tremendous help organizing the event!
Students enjoyed a PATH training program on Effective Communication with Atifa Chiragh & Mohamed Shiliwala
MSA Students attended the delegates meeting & training from various Southern California Universities including UCLA, CalPoly Pamona, UCI, UCLA, El Camino, Claremont Colleges such as Harvey Mudd, and the University of California San Diego (UCSD)
Interactive programs make MSA National COMPASS & PATH training both fun and relevant.
Students were able to come up with creative solutions to MSA issues

I wanted to take the time to wish you all the most productive and blessed last 10 days of Ramadan. Insh'Allah we can all spend more time in worship during these final critical days when your duas and prayers are hopefully answered. I also wanted to thank those of you who have expressed interest in being a part of the WestZone committee. Hopefully we can set up a conference call in October after Ramadan to speak about the goals for this year and how we can best facilitate networking across our zone. I'm extremely excited by the response thus far, but I want to remind all of you that it is NOT too late to get involved. I wanted to express my willingness to help your MSA's coordinate a PATH training program on your campus. Salaam Westzone and ISNA attendees!
I am asking those interested in participating on the WestZone committee to step up and send me a quick email. The committee will be working towards better networking amongst the different MSA's across the West Zone as well as setting up a conference in the Spring insh'Allah. It would be fantastic if I could hear from interested parties before the MSA National Continental Conference held in conjunction with ISNA (in Ohio this year), so I can take the opportunity to meet with you face to face. Make sure to email me as soon as possible by Thursday, August 28th, 2008 if interested in working to unite our ummah bi ithn illah and serve as a volunteer on the Westzone committee. The amount of time you will volunteer as a member of the committee will average between 2-3 hours a month, depending on how involved you would like to become insh'Allah. Email me at

Asalaamualaikum West Zone from me, your new Rep!
Insh'Allah I pray this message finds all of you across the West Coast of the United States in the best of health and iman. I wanted to take the opportunity to introduce myself to all of you as your new West Zone Representative for MSA National. My name is Yasmin and I am currently a law student at the UCLA School of Law entering my second year.
I am honored to represent such a vibrant group of young students and encourage you to email me with your questions and concerns. Insh'Allah this year will be one of new alliances and greater networking. I am hoping to have a WestZone Conference this year that can truly be inspirational and educational for us all.
